Race hustlers
Never forget that tons of leftists actually believed Jussie Smollett walked to Subway to get food at 2:00am during a polar vortex in Chicago and got attacked with bleach and a noose by some roving gang of conservative white supremacists who shouted “THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY!!” 🤦‍♂️

Elon is not for cartels of state capture. He is pro-human and he doesn’t want AI that’s destroying humans. A lot of us see Elon as the hope against the AI cartel, and I think he is still fighting it. Saying “we should be careful not to wipe out part of the economy by releasing a model that can do a lot of damage without any safety” is not the same as “we need to be regulated and the state should capture AI.”
I’ve been sounding the alarm on AI for a long time

Yes
Elon Musk on how to make AI safer and actually pro-human: “Artificial intelligence will be smarter than the smartest human. At which point, any invention is possible” But there’s also a small chance AI could kill us all So what matters most is how we train it • Make AI as truthful as possible • Make it maximally curious • Train it to be honest even when the truth is unpopular Because if AI is genuinely truth-seeking and curious, he believes it will naturally want to foster humanity rather than work against it

I think this is worth doing
ELON MUSK: AI competitors should peer review each other’s models before release. “I would recommend that we at least have some sort of informal weekly or biweekly call and that there’s maybe a week or two weeks of early access by competitors. This is why I think the incentives work, competing companies are likely to understand if something is a security risk and they’re not going to be shy about highlighting that their competitors’ models should be delayed in release. The incentive structure does work quite well there. It’s similar to how the Motion Picture Association works as an industry group that decides how movies should be rated. That seems to have worked quite well. You really just have to ask the government to intervene if a company is doing something very dangerous and refuses to take action to reduce the danger.”

I’m speedrunning a company with @poteto and @roshan_s next week we’ll go from nothing to a business in 72 hours and stream the whole thing we don’t have a name, a product, or an idea yet we’ll use @bot as our employees, but keep real people (us) at the core Lauren says we’ll be turned into pizza in some sort of bond-villain punishment if we fail watch: x.ai/galaxy
Next week, @mattyp @roshan_s and myself will be speedrunning building a new company using only Grok @Bot on the Grok Bot Galaxy livestream! We’ve been given just 3 days to do it, or else we might be turned into pizza 🤪 it will be so fun and I hope to see you on the livestream! I will have to miss the Cursor Compile conf in London and Amsterdam though. I will instead record an extended version of my talk and make it freely available here. So stay tuned for that post! x.ai/galaxy

Worth reading Superintelligence by Bostrom. We need to be super careful with AI. Potentially more dangerous than nukes.

Replying to @TalulahRiley
I’ve seen quite a few technologies develop, but none with this level of risk. AGI is significantly higher risk than nuclear weapons, in my opinion. Super smart humans have trouble imagining something vastly smarter than themselves.

Dario is right
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
